 On Dec. 12-16, 2005, SZU hosted an Indian Culture Cultivation Programme. During the programme, a photo exhibition named The Vision of India—Interpretation of Indian Culture, was held by the Centre. Three lectures were also given, which were, Indian Movie, Tan Yun-sha:the Renowned Cultural Emissary between China and India, and India Yoga .

     

 Oct. 13-19, 2005, an eminent Indian economist, Prof.G.K. Chadha, former Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and the economic advisers of the Prime Minister of India, visited SZU and presented our university with six precious gifts. During the visit, Prof. G.K. Chadha delivered two gracious lectures, which were Recent Growth of Indian Economy: Looking Ahead with Optimism and Caution and The Post-Reform Experience of Chinese Economic Development: A Foreigner’s Perspective. He was conferred Honorary Professorship by SZU.

    

 On Aug. 16, 2005, Prof. Yu Longyu, director of the Centre, met with Prof. Harish Trivedi, from the University of Delhi, India, in Minghua International Conference Centre.They discussed topics of India-China relationship,the construction of the Centre for Indian Studies of Shenzhen University, the joint-training of doctoral students, and the cooperative relationship between the University of Delhi and the University of Shenzhen.

     

 On Aug. 12-16, 2005, the 8th Annual Congress and International Academic Conference of CCLA was held by SZU and the China Comparative Literature Association, in Minghua International Conference Centre.

    

 On July 20, 2005, Centre for Indian Studies was established in SZU. SZU appointed Prof. Yu Longyu as the Director, Prof. Ji Xianlin the Consultant, Prof. Sun Peijun, Prof. Liu Anwu and Prof. Huang Baosheng the Honorary Directors, and Prof. Dong Benjian, Prof. Dong Youchen, Dr. Yang Xiaoxia, Mr.Yang Xiuzheng and Dr. Cai Feng the researcher members.
