 On Oct. 22-27, 2006, the Centre held the “Festival of India” to commemorate the “Year of Sino-Indian Friendship, 2006”. The Indian Embassy in Beijing, provided Indian movies for the festival. During the festival, three speeches were organized by the Centre, which were, Interpretation of CHINDIA by Prof. Yu Yulong, Tagore and China by Prof. Dong Youchen, Experiencing the Sino-Indian Friendship by the former Chinese Ambassador to India, Mr. Cheng Ruisheng.

     

 In Sept. , 2006, the Centre published the first book of Sino-Indian Studies Series. The series have renowned scholars like Prof. Ji Xianlin, Prof. Tan Chung etc. on the Advisory Board. In September 2006, the Centre published the Chinese version of Jairam Ramesh’s book Making Sense of CHINDIA: Reflections on China and India, which was translated by Cai Feng, Dong Fangfeng, and published by Ningxia People’s Press.

   

 On July 13, 2006, Dr. Gajendra Haldea, Advisor of the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, visited the Centre and discussed some problems of Special Economic Zones with some teachers and students of SZU.

      

 On Mar. 13-16, 2006, Prof. Tan Chung, a famous Indologist, visited SZU.He donated documents and belongings of his father, Mr.Tan Yun-shan, to the University. He also signed an agreement on The Donation of the Items on Behalf of the Descendants of Tan Yun-shan, and discussed the China-India relationship with some graduate students of SZU.

    

 On Jan. 14, 2006, a group of 18 people,including graducate students of the PSG School of Business and Management from India, and principals from the Indian-China Business Association, visited SZU.
