 On Nov. 21, 2008, the Tan Yunshan Sino-Indian Friendship Museum was opened. After its opening ceremony ,15 guests from home and abroad, and teachers and students of SZU, attended the conference on "Tagore, Tan Yunshan, Visca-Bharata and Sino-Indian Friendship".

    

 On Nov. 21, 2008, the Centre published the Newsletter of Indian Studies at Shenzhen University (Initial issue ).

    

 In Oct., 2008, Prof. Priyadarsi Mukherji, Chairman of Centre for Chinese & South-East Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, appointed by ICCR as the first Indian Chair Professor to visit SZU.

       

 On June 18, 2008, Ms. Nirupama Rao, the Indian Ambassador to China, visited SZU. An agreement on the Cooperative Memorandum of Understanding between Shenzhen University (SZU) and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Consideration of an Annual Visiting Chair in the Humanities and Social Sciences at Shenzhen University was signed by Ms. Nirupama Rao and Prof. Zhang Bigong, the President of SZU. Ms. Nirupama Rao also delivered a speech on A Vision for India–China Partnership at SZU.
